While the rest of us are busy with last minute shopping for the holidays, the musicians, cast and crew of Toronto Operetta Theatre’s production of The Mikado are hard at work preparing for their Opening Night.  The Mikado, which runs from Dec 27 to Jan 4 in the Jane Mallett Theatre at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, promises to be a delightful escape from the holiday mayhem.

I have to admit I have not been feeling very Christmassy this year.  On top of that I am also super busy with people contacting me to book the theatre! (Yes, that is a good thing.)  But when this video from the recent Singing Out Christmas concert Closer to the Flame in the Jane Mallett Theatre, popped into my inbox, I took a moment to watch it and felt a bit more in the holiday spirit.  I hope it will do the same for you.  Enjoy!

So, we have a new website! You may be asking why we decided to

change our site. Aside from the fact that our old site was launched way back in 2007, during the pre-IPhone era, and it didn’t have any social media functionality or respond well to mobile devices…we thought that it was time for a new look. You’ll want to check out our fancy new event calendar and catch a video or audio excerpt of a performance to give you a taste of what’s coming to the StLC. Don’t forget to sign up to receive email updates about ticket promotions and upcoming shows.

We’re very excited that our new site makes it possible for us to launch our blog, Behind the Scenes. The plan is to post about what is going on with artists, producers, activities and personalities that appear on our stages or behind the scenes. With a lot of cooperation from our producers, the posts will be put together by StLC staffers and a few special guest bloggers. Look forward to interviews with performers, candid rehearsal photos, updates on what our favourite producers are up to, and a peek inside the day to day activities at the StLC.
